In his studio, he paints to a strictly hip-hop soundtrack, with artists like Lil Wayne and Rick Ross influencing him just as much as his artistic idols — the European Renaissance masters Pieter Bruegel and Jan van Eyck. This fusion results in artwork brimming with energy, determination, and a distinct personal style. His precise, flowing lines define the contours of female figures, creating a seductive yet distorted realism. These striking women, depicted with a bold and irreverent attitude, reflect hip-hop culture’s ability to construct an illusion of an extravagant lifestyle. Born in 1984 in Kansas, USA, Charlie Roberts now lives and works in Oslo, Norway. He studied at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Canada and the University of Kansas in the USA.
