Artists:

Julien Jaca: The Sun Never Sets On Me

October 13, 2022 - November 06, 2022

We are thrilled to present the first solo show of the French artist Julien Jaca at NBB in Berlin titled THE SUN NEVER SETS ON ME. The pictorial symbolism of this exhibition is based on the conventional designs of motorcycle vests although Jaca’s canvases do not feature any real motorcycle club logo. Each vest roots in Jaca’s imagination – from the name of the fictional club to the badges. Skeletons, native Americans, or even Jesus Christ are employed as visual symbols leaving the story and values of each one of these fictional clubs to the viewers’ imagination.

Jaca’s interest in motorcycle club jackets - being the central theme within this series - can be traced back to a specific event which left a permanent mark on his life back in 2018. It was from this moment on that Jaca began to devote himself entirely to art and pictorial experimentation, embarking on the uninterrupted creative journey of a hundred or so paintings and drawings.

Influenced by aesthetics from his past career as an international tattoo artist, his interest in the biker scene of the 70s and drawing from his personal experience as a human and artist, Jaca creates an intimate setting allowing the viewer to get a glimpse into his world embarking on a journey of vivid colors, craggy textures and deep emotions.
