James Lincoln (b.1991, UK) lives and works in London. He received a BFA from the Slade School of Fine Art in 2014. Recent exhibitions include You Have To Laugh (solo) at Platform Southwark, A Land of Incomparable Beauty at Collective Ending HQ, Crowd at Hannah Barry Gallery, Grot at The Horse Hospital and Faces Faeces at Thames-Side Studios Gallery.

James Lincoln’s work sits between diary and fiction. Memories of everyday life are formalised on the surface as portraits and staged scenes through an exploratory process of call and response. The planar avatars that populate the work are built using a language that draws on influences from narrative medieval and ancient art, magic realism, cartoons, the Grotesque, masks, and art history.
