Danish artist, Laust Højgaard (b. 1989), paints grotesque yet humorous contemporary figurative art. Laust’s approach is impulsive, working directly on the canvas from imagination. Building layers with semi-dried paint to create depth and intriguing details, his work captivates and draws the eye. With a background in classical drawing, croquis and graphic design, Laust has pushed himself to detach from the “classic approach” and develop his own way of working. He just released a new body of work with Guy Hepner Editions last month and is preparred for his upcoming solo shows in Paris, New York and Berlin.
