Christian August (born 1977 in Halle/Saale, Germany) is a contemporary abstract painter who works primarily on large-scale canvases, as well as on facades and in assemblages. His art explores the complexities of existence in an increasingly opaque world. August's works often evoke dystopian landscapes and are characterized by worlds that explore the incomprehensible and the unknown. Through his abstract depictions of diffusion and multi-layeredness, he challenges viewers to question their own perspectives and to remain open to a continuous process of learning.
