Dominika Kováčiková (b. 1996) completed her Bachelor's studies in the Studio of Graphic and Visual Arts at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica and continued her Master's studies in the painting studio STARTUP under the guidance of Ján Triaška. In her oil paintings, the artist depicts figurative and portrait (sometimes also self-portrait) scenes, through which she explores a wide range of themes related to the world of young women. In the past, her heroines have experienced problems with eating, their own appearance, sexuality, or sexual harassment. Nevertheless, her paintings do not lack a great deal of detachment or irony which is largely due to the distinctive coloring and the painterly form, occasionally bordering on kitsch.
